Green DataCentre Technology made in Germany
The TAO Group plans innovative “Green DataCentre” with renowned architectural offices and data centre developers. The focus is on “Green”, here TAO meets the pulse of the time in solar energy, wind power, geothermal energy and waste heat recovery as well as the corresponding storage in efficient, sustainable storage systems due to its current research projects. It is important to note that the availability of renewable energy sources can vary depending on the geographical location of the data centre. A combination of different energy sources can ensure a reliable and sustainable power supply for a green data centre. In the long term, the use of off-grid systems is also conceivable.
Each new Green DataCentre site has the options for renewable energy, drought-resistant landscaping, an innovative lighting concept (LED lighting with motion sensors) and should have charging stations for electric vehicles.
Our project partners and TAO have set out to achieve net zero emissions by 2030 through a comprehensive sustainability programme. The Green DataCentres site will use highly efficient cooling in combination with outside air and minimal water consumption. Together with other design features, this approach allows for achieving near-zero power usage efficiency (PUE) and water use efficiency (WUE).
Highest security standards in our Green DataCentre in Germany
In the age of digitalisation, data is a valuable raw material for all companies. Since the introduction of the GDPR, the location of data storage also plays an important role for almost every company. External data centres are often involved in the processing chain for internal processes. More and more companies are therefore interested in securing their sensitive data in Germany rather than in a non-European country. Locally based data centres are therefore becoming increasingly popular.
Green DataCentres are monitored 24/7/365 (designated security zone and control of employee access to each zone, ICT security layer, environmental security).
The innovative Green DataCentres are backed up by multiple power supplies (-N +1 generators and UPS system).
Fully air-conditioned data centre with multiple fire zones. Extensive protective functions safeguard the Green DataCentre against fire and water penetration (fire protection system based on Inergen and FM200).
The Green DataCentre offers state-of-the-art protection against virtual access. Data is sent via encrypted channels and secured within the data centre by a multi-redundant infrastructure, such as shared storages or shared backup systems.
A team of specialists from different IT fields monitors the operation of the transferred systems and devices, handles incidents according to ITIL best practice rules, is responsible for the adherence to schedules of the services to be provided, their coordination as well as reporting.
The skills of the TAO Group and its project partners for the implementation of these Green DataCentres
Planning a data centre requires a combination of technical knowledge and skills related to various aspects of data centre design, infrastructure and operations. TAO has over 20 years of experience in research & development in, among others, renewable energy and data transmission and is working with experienced partners from industry and research for the implementation of a complex and long-term data centre project.
The data centre project team has project experience in all relevant project parameters and has already implemented data centre planning for Switzerland and Malta, among others:
